In our Professional Education Course we will provide the tools so Greek professionals will better understand
Ukrainian culture and Ukrainian professionals will better understand Greek culture.
Greek sport professionals who work in artistic sport sector in Greece, need to develop expertise of how to work with
youths who have faced war and have forcibly displaced home counties. Through our hybrid professional course

“Intercultural Education and Sport Mentoring” Greek sport staff will acquire skills and knowledge to effectively work
with young people with traumatic war experience.

 

The course will include topics such as:

PART A: Intercultural Education

  1. trauma-informed coaching methods,
  2. cultural competence,
  3. adaptability in the training methods to accommodate the unique needs of refugees, conflict resolution.

PART B: SPORT MENTORING

(a) Sport mentoring as an asset-building approach for strengthening the positive potential of youths. Participants will learn how to provide young Ukrainians with the support, relationships, experience, resources, and opportunities needed to engage in an artistic sports training in Greece.

(b) The specific positive qualities that youths, with refugee background, should develop to become more active and confident in the hosted country.

(c) How to combine both individual characteristics and environmental contexts. The learners will develop expertise on designing youth sport programs that foster individual assets while providing external support from home or community,

(d) The learners will also gain knowledge on “Life skills development” in young Ukrainians. They will be able to identify which elements of artistic training can develop physical, cognitive, or behavioral skills that will enable young Ukrainians to succeed in the different contexts in which they live,

(e) We will introduce to the learners, the “One-to-one mentoring method”.
